Vancouver 2010

Come the Winter Olympics 2010, the city of Vancouver is really going to take off. Already known as one of the best places in the world to live through countless surveys and ranks, Vancouver 2010 is set to make the city more desirable than ever before.

The games begin on February 12th 2010 but you're better off getting to Vancouver a few days early to absorb the city's cosmopolitan atmosphere before the crowds start to arrive. The main Winter Olympics run for 16 days, but the Winter Paralympics will keep the torch alight from March 10th for even more tense excitement. With a whole month of events, it gives you plenty of time to visit Vancouver and dip into the curious treats it has to offer.

Sightseeing during Vancouver 2010

At just over 100 years old, Vancouver is a young city and as such is very modern and spacious. Yet that doesn't stop the city bulging with must-see attractions. In fact, the youth appeal of Vancouver has brought it a wealth of architectural pleasantries that result in a stunning set of landmarks.

Before the Winter Olympics 2010 starts to open its gates, why not wander over to the Capilano Suspension Bridge which is some 450 feet long and stoops delicately over the gorgeous Capilano River? Amongst the trees and wildlife, you'll find it one of the most memorable and spine-tingling experiences Vancouver has to offer. There are also plenty of parks on offer for a pleasant walk, including Stanley Park which extends from the downtown area and the remarkable Queen Elizabeth Park which is the highest point in city, giving an amazing view all around.

Another area offering a beautiful, albeit entirely different view, is the Lookout Tower at Harbour Centre which stands over 480 feet tall and presents an incredible 360-degree panoramic of the city, with the North Shore mountains glimmering in the distance. You'll get a nice feel for the shape of the city before advancing out into the vibrant life.

For an indoor adventure, you absolutely have to explore the Vancouver Aquarium as it's dripping with underwater excitement and colourful life. There are regular events happening and better still, there's something for the whole family, making it a great trip out.
